Hello,

My name is Michael Angelo.

I am interested in all things Cultural, from Paintings to Classical Music - enjoy  listening to the RSNO, at the Usher Hall , Edinburgh I am lucky enough to have a season ticket. Wonderful way to find down and relax on a Friday evening.

I now paint. I have joined Artlink ,  - Edinburgh with the inspiring Anne Elliot - and NEMO , in Glasgow , with Mark Bryne and Leith School of Art.

These groups help me focus and paint in a positive way. I have tended to paint plants and flowers, with some Landscapes as well. I would like to further develop into landscape and Portraits.

After almost 40 years in my current home near the Meadows , Edinburgh, I am in the process of moving to an older property, where I hope to have a Studio in the attic. It's time for big life changes. Art has given me an interest and painting is a way of concentrating on the present. I'm not a great watcher of Television , but tend to read, go to concerts, Art Exhibitions , Galleries. I loved our recent visit with Peter to Jupiter Art world. I really enjoyed the Exhibition at the Edinburgh Dovecot Studios , displays of Quilts. The National Museum of Scotland had a terrific Exhibition on the work of Bernat Klien - the Colours were inspirational. I wonder if I'm brave enough to return to University and Study Textile design.

Influences  or Artists - I like/Enjoy.

The first piece of Art was a poster of rural South of France by Vincent Van Gogh. Since then , having visited Amsterdam his famous Sunflowers has been a painting I still treasure and love.

I was very lucky to have received from my old pal Sarah, a wonderful copy of Nighthawks by  Edward Hopper. I love his work , the use of colour and shade, love it.

In Edinburgh my favourite painting is of an

Old woman cooking eggs, by Valazquez, in the National Gallery .

Clothes/ fashion

I loved the vitality of Vivan Westwood - I had a lovely Black jumper, designed by her, sadly stolen at a party, however, following her sad death, I found a suitable replacement, in Glasgow,  in a Black sweatshirt.

I went to the Edinburgh Playhouse to see Annie. Sadly about a week after Paul Grady died.

He must have faced such discrimination and prejudice in his career. To both the families and friends of those two I offer my sincere condolences.

National Geographic - wonderful inspiration from photographs of places and people ,whom i will never see.

If after reading this short Blog you would like to let me know of your favourite pieces of Art and/or Exhibitions, please contact via the email on the website.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you - Michael Angelo.
